– On “Better Now,” Malone reminisces about a past relationship.

He believes that his emotions mirror those of his ex. They are likely both masking the fact that they still have feelings for each other in an attempt to “win the breakup.”

  1. Love Lies – Khalid & Normani

-“Love Lies” is an original song featured in the movie Love, Simon (2018). This is the first collaboration between artists Khalid and Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei, and serves as Normani’s official solo debut.

  1. I Like It – Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin

– Featuring Latin grooves, an energetic horn section, and an infectious trap beat. The Latin influences of the song are underpinned by a sample from Pete Rodriguez’s 1967 boogaloo song “I Like It Like That”, and guest features from Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, and Colombian reggaetón star J Balvin.

-“Back to You” is an upbeat love ballad that sees Gomez sing her heart out and express her love for her significant other, even though that person may be able to hurt her again.

  1. In My Feelings – Drake

-“In My Feelings” is an upbeat, club-mixed love letter to “Kiki,” “KB,” and the members of City Girls. The track rides on Drake’s heartfelt singing and honest lyrics, wondering if they still love him.

  1. FEFE – 6ix9ine ft. Nicki Minaj

-“FEFE” features a different flow from 6ix9ine, who seems to stray from his usual aggressive rapping style to calmer and more melodic waters, like he did on his track “GOTTI.”

  1. Lucky You – Eminem ft. Joyner Lucas

-The hard going “Lucky You” marks the first collaboration between Eminem and Joyner Lucas, whom people have pointed out shares many characteristics with Em in terms of rhymes and flow.

Their verses are polar opposites. Joyner’s comments on how he hasn’t received any awards, although he is steadily gaining recognition Em’s verse on the other hand, is about how he is at the top in terms of awards and status, but is being overlooked on the current rap scene.

  1. Lucid Dreams – Juice WRLD

-On “Lucid Dreams,” Juice WRLD explores the mental anguish someone feels after experiencing a break-up.

Lucid dreaming refers to a state of conscious where a person is aware they are dreaming. With enough experience, a dreamer can slowly begin to control the contents of their dreams. Juice uses the idea of controlling a lucid dream as an analogy for his mental state; to avoid the pain of seeing his ex-lover in his dreams, Juice seeks to replace them—for good.

  1. BEBE – 6ix9ine ft. Anuel AA

-” BEBE ” is a collaboration between 6ix9ine and the Puerto Rican ragman Anuel AA. It is the first song in which Tekashi sings completely in Spanish.

  1. Te Bote (Remix) – Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam, Ozuna & Bad Bunny

-The main theme of the song is the individual sentimental rupture of each singer. They treat the one who was their spouse as a spoil, something unnecessary for what they had to suffer and express regretful having known them. Each verse shows how each one faces it.

  1. X (EQUIS) – Nicky Jam, J Balvin

-The theme that revolves around “X (EQUIS)” is about a woman who greatly impacts Nicky and J Balvin, calling attention to the energy that she had when dancing.

The adventure they had with the woman was full of rumors and people who rejected the appearance of both, but Nicky and Balvin insist that the bodies be carried away by the dance.

  1. Unica – Ozuna

-The song tells us how Ozuna idealizes a woman with whom she has a loving relationship, coming to see her as unique and incomparable.

He describes her as a woman who with her beauty does not go unnoticed anywhere, being the object of desire of many men.

 

Dance/Electronic

  1. The Middle – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey

-“The Middle” marks the first time Zedd has collaborated with country singer Maren Morris, but he has teamed up with production duo Grey various times before, on songs like “Starving” and “Adrenaline.”

On the song, Morris sings about trying to find a compromise between her and a lover in order to save a relationship.

  1. Happier – Marshmello & Bastille

-This single tells the story of someone reflecting on a failing relationship. It wasn’t what it once was, and neither party can pretend to “be okay” anymore.

The artist acknowledges the pain of seeing their partner with someone else, however, he knows the only way to make his lover truly happy is to leave them.

  1. Jackie Chan – Tiesto & Dzeko ft. Preme & Post Malone

-The latest collaboration from Tiesto and Dzeko is actually a remix of “Jackie Chan” by Preme. However, this is officially billed as a Tiesto & Dzeko production featuring Post Malone.

  1. One Kiss – Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa

-“One Kiss” is the second single released by Calvin Harris in 2018. It was preceded by “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” which came out two months prior.

Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa debuted the first live performance of the song on The Graham Norton Show on April 20th, 2018.

  1. Meant To Be – Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line

-“Meant to Be” is the closing track on Bebe Rexha’s third EP, All Your Fault: Pt. 2 and the lead single from her debut studio album, Expectations. Initially released as the EP’s second single, it is a country-pop track with a que-sera-esque message.

Featuring country duo Florida Georgia Line, the song was noted by many critics as a surprise collaboration, and further solidified her recognition as a diverse recording artist.

  1. Tequila – Dan & Shay

-Jordan Reynolds was watching their Instagram story and he comments “Dude, you guys drink a lot of tequila. We gotta write that as a song.”

That one comment made them inspired to write a song named tequila expressing how It can easily overcome their minds as they try hard to forget their lover.

  1. Simple – Florida Georgia Line

– The two stated in an interview on iHeartRadio’s website that the two drew lyrical inspiration from their relationships with their own wives and families. The song is about keeping a relationship “simple” and expressing the emotion of romantic love in simple fashions.

  1. Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset – Luke Bryan

-The song recalls a summertime romance between two teenaged protagonists. The narrator falls in love with a girl after being hired to paint the girl’s father’s house.
