The morning of November 30th brought the devastating news that President George H.W. Bush had passed away at the age of 94. Bush was born on June 12th, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts and became the 41st President of the United states on November 8th, 1988. Bush was known for his charismatic personality as well as the respect he got among his peers.

“We all admired him so much, everyone who worked for him,” said former Ambassador R. Nicholas Burns, Bush’s director of affairs with the Soviets. “We admired his professionalism, his intellect, he was a listener, he was fair, he was someone with a very strong sense of right and wrong. He had a clear integrity when you watched him.”

Bush was very admired  for his desire for change. At the age of 17, a senior in high school, he heard the devastating news that Pearl Harbor had been bombed, at that very moment he knew he wanted to join the fight. On June 12,1942 he enlisted in the US Navy to fight in World War II and start a movement towards change. Many believe that Bush’s fight in the war  is what made his  presidency  successful.

Americans formally celebrated his life on Monday, December 3rd through Wednesday December 5th, which is now a national day of mourning in Washington DC. There was also be a national mass in Texas on Thursday December 6th to honor the former president in a more remote private way. Many national leaders will attended Wednesdays memorial  to remember  President George H.W. Bush. Even as the celebrations came to a close the country will continue to benefit from the impact the Bush presidency had on our country.
