Queen of Bows and Being Herself

JoJo Siwa has come out as gay. She has told the whole world to let everyone know who she really is.

Jojo Siwa, or Joelle Joanie Siwa, has recently come out as apart of the LGBTQ+ community. The star is well known for her role on Dance Moms from 2013 – 2015, her music career and Nickelodeon contract. After her first single “Boomerang” in 2016, Siwa became famous to Gen Z. 

Siwa hinted about her sexuality before coming out by making TikToks with an LBGTQ+ group named ‘Pride House’ and posted a TikTok on her personal page to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” On Twitter, Siwa officially came out on January 21st by posting a photo of her wearing a shirt with the words “BEST. GAY. COUSIN EVER.”

On February 3rd, Siwa appeared via Zoom on The Tonight Show and opened up to Jimmy Falon about how she currently has a girlfriend who inspired her to come out and the risks she faced coming out publically.

“But if I lost everything that I’ve created because of being myself because of loving someone I want to love, I don’t want it,” Siwa said.

Other celebrities such as Abby Lee Miller, the main character of Dance Moms, and Nickelodeon have since shown support and love for Siwa finally showing her true self to the world.

Siwa has since posted an Instagram live on her account opening up about her sexuality further. She denied identifying what label she identifies with but thanked her followers for all the love and support she’s received.

“I’m just so happy because now I get to share what makes me the happiest with the world, and it makes my heart so happy,” Siwa said.
