Adobe flash was discontinued on December 31, 2020. Adobe will not be providing any more updates or versions of the software, which left many online games to die.
“In collaboration with several of our technology partners – including Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla, Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash,” Adobe said in their official statement.
The company has encouraged former users to uninstall the application entirely to protect their computers from viruses and not to download third-party updates for the same reason.
Many games from students’ childhoods like Coolmath Games and Poptropica were ran using flash. This is forcing games to either die or update to a new system.
“It’s pretty sad,” senior Alberto Carrion said. “I’ll always remember the games I played and Flash won’t be forgotten. They shouldn’t have ended it because it was useful.”
