Established in 1999 by Rick Van Santen and Paul Tollett, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual   event that headlines established and upcoming artists. Coachella is one the largest, most famous, and profitable festivals in the world. It is a 6-day long event that is going to span from Apr-15-22. Here is a list of some of the most notable artists performing. 

 

 Alec Benjamin: 

  • Releasing his hit single, “Let Me Down Slowly” in 2018, Alec Benjamin rightfully took his slice of fame. Since his career took flight, Benjamin has released two successful albums called, “Narrated For You”, and “These Two Windows”. Benjamin announced to his fans that he would be performing at Coachella in a tweet. 

 

Beach Bunny: 

  • Debuting in 2018 with their album, “Prom Queen”, Beach Bunny took flight on the app TikTok, when a few of their songs became popular to dance or lip sync to. Since their recent rise in popularity, they have released three EP’s and an album. This is their first time performing at Coachella.

 

Billie Eilish:

  • One of the most famous singers of this generation, Billie Ellish gained recognition in 2015 when she released “Ocean Eyes.” Since then she became the youngest person to ever win a Grammy, with her hit song  “Bad Guy.” She will be the youngest person ever to headline at the festival. 

 

Conan Gray:

  • Starting out his career on YouTube, Conan Gray steadily gained a following and became known for his shopping vlogs, creating covers, and his original music. After getting signed to a label in 2018, Gray released his first EP titled “Sunset Season”, which received over 145 million streams in just a year. After this EP, Gray released an album titled, “Kid Krow”, and eight singles. This is Gray’s first year performing at Coachella. 

 

Doja Cat:

  • With her viral success “Mooo!” in 2018, Doja Cat has gained a massive following. She has become an internet sensation with multiple TikTok dances featuring her song. Doja Cat has released 32 singles, including 14 where she was a featured artist. She has gained a net worth of 8 million in just about 8 years. This is Doja Cat’s first Coachella appearance.

 

Harry Styles:

  • Since his success in the hit boy band, One Direction,  in 2017 Harry Styles gained his own following with the release of his first solo album titled, “Harry Styles”. After getting billions of hits on his first album, Styles released his second album titled, “Fine Line”, which sold 458,000 copies, and  received 5.4 billion streams on Spotify.  Despite never performing at Coachella, this year Styles is headlining for the festival. 

Ye: 

  • Formerly known as Kanye West. Ye’s first hit was in 2003 when he collaborated with Twista and Jamie Fox on the song “Slow Jamz,” this was his first single to top the US Billboard Hot 100. Kanye since then, has become one of the most influential people in the world. He has a net worth of almost 2 billion. Kanye, to say the least, deserved to be headlining Coachella. 

 

Megan Thee Stallion:

  • Debuting with her album “Make It Hot” in 2017. Megan only started to gain popularity in January of 2019 after her song “Big Ole Freak” when it was first aired on the radio. Soon after in the summer months of 2019, there was a new dance that was inspired by that song. Since then, most of if not all of her 38 singles have inspired TikTok. This is her first Coachella performance.

 

Wallows

  • Most well known for their hit song titled, “Are You Bored Yet?” Wallows rose to fame in 2017 when one of their band members named Dylan Minnette was casted as a character in the Netflix show, “13 Reasons Why”. Since making it big, Wallows has released three EP’s and an album. The band has already performed at Coachella once but will be making their appearance again for the first time since 2019. 

 

21 Savage:

  • His music was first introduced to the world in 2014, but he started to become well known in 2016 after releasing the album Savage Mode with two of its singles, “X” and “No Heart,” reaching the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. Since then he has been featured in a song with Drake, and his career has taken off. As of now, 21 Savage is worth 12 million dollars and is one of the most famous rappers of this generation.
