LANGLEY PARK, MD — Prince George’s County police are investigating a deadly shooting in the Langley Park area after a man was found inside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound early Sunday morning.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of Lewisdale Drive shortly after 4:15 a.m. When they arrived, police said they discovered the victim in the vehicle and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Detectives are now trying to identify a suspect and determine what led to the shooting.
Officers responded to Lewisdale Drive shortly after 4:15 a.m.
Police have not released the man’s name, age or any description of the vehicle. They also have not said whether the shooting happened where the car was found or elsewhere before officers arrived.
The 2200 block of Lewisdale Drive is in the Langley Park area of Prince George’s County, a densely populated part of the county near the Washington, D.C., line. At this stage, investigators are only confirming that the victim was inside a vehicle when police found him.
The killing added to the list of violent incidents county detectives handle in a busy corridor that includes homes, businesses and apartment buildings.
Detectives are still working to identify a suspect and motive
At this point, police have not announced an arrest or named anyone they believe may have been involved. They also have not described a weapon beyond saying the victim had at least one gunshot wound.
Detectives are expected to continue gathering evidence from the scene, speaking with witnesses and reviewing any available information that could help establish a timeline. Motive remains unknown.
That leaves investigators with basic questions still unanswered: who fired the shots, when the victim was hit and whether anyone saw the shooting happen.

Langley Park residents woke to another homicide investigation
The early-morning response likely drew added attention in a neighborhood where residents were starting their day and traffic was still light. Police did not say whether any nearby businesses or homes were affected by the investigation.
For now, the case remains open and active. The county police department has released only the most basic facts: a man was found shot inside a vehicle, he died at the scene and detectives are looking for answers.
Further details, including the victim’s identity and whether any arrests are made, will come only if investigators decide to release them.
