The Academic Team represents Lyman at the SCPS Academic Tournament at the Educational Support Center—a five-week-long district competition. Students from each Seminole County high school participate in answering questions using a buzzer system. An all-star team gets to compete at the state Commissioner's Academic Challenge in April.

This mental health wellness club hopes to uplift and empower students to use their own voices, teach coping skills, and provide a safe place for discussion. The club wants to ensure students are aware of the outside agencies that are available for help with anxiety, stress, and depression.
Joe Gallagher founded this organization for his daughter Ali (who attended Lyman High). She suffered from depression and ended up committing suicide in her early twenties. Gallagher wants to create a group that could give students a safe place and encourage mental wellness.

Through guided experiments, students with a love and background knowledge of science apply the concepts in hands-on, real-life scenarios. Experiments have included activities such as methane bubbles (lighting your hands on fire), radiation, and hover-crafting.

Asian Student Association (ASA) is a Florida organization with a purpose of deepening the connection and spreading the understanding of Asian culture among different people with diverse backgrounds. Members of the club learn about the unique traits of certain cultures across Asia and even get a chance to experience them through different activities in an engaging and friendly environment. ALL students are welcomed to join!

The Young Authors and Readers Creative Writing (YAR CreW) Club aims to provide a safe space to read, write, and share creative works. The last Tuesday of each month is dedicated to sharing works and giving feedback to peers. Guest speakers are invited to discuss and answer questions about their craft including Jon Tilton, YA novel writer, and a movie director.

Dungeons and Dragons is like reading a book or watching TV where you are the main character and the plot twists are a result of your choices roleplaying as a character, the choices of the person running the game (the dungeon master, DM) who creates a universe, and the whims of the ding-dang dice. YouTube channels like Dimension 20 and Critical Role popularized this game into shows like The Legend of Vox Machina.

Description: FCA is a Christian ministry that uses sports as a way to reach, unite, and involve Christians and non-Christians alike on every high school campus. Greyhound Buddies is a club for students with disabilities to meet and interact with students without disabilities. It has grown into a club for all students to feel included at Lyman and to promote inclusiveness for all. Greyhound Buddies was started in 2018 by a group of students (Angel Stumberg, Morgan Worthy, and Olivia Heintzen) who wanted to promote inclusion of all students.

The Interact Club aims to foster leadership, teamwork, and a sense of social responsibility among its members, working closely in partnership with the South Seminole Rotary Club. Through community service projects and engagement activities, the club strives to make a positive impact on both local and global communities. By focusing on various core areas such as the environment, food security, education, health, and community involvement, the Interact Club empowers students to develop essential life skills and cultivate a lifelong commitment to service, enhancing the shared goals and values with the South Seminole Rotary Club.

Lymlight Productions is Lyman’s theatre company, which puts on two shows a year—a play in the fall and a musical in the spring. Once auditioned and given a role for a show, production runs every day after school for six to eight weeks. It’s a great opportunity to learn all kinds of different careers beyond just acting. There are a multitude of technical aspects for anyone not wanting to be on stage.

Mu Alpha Theta is a national math honor society where students can explore their love for math on a deeper level. They have fun math puzzles to solve and practice for competitions that occur during the second semester.
Requirements: Students are required to maintain an A or B in an honors or AP math class. When accepted, members are not allowed to have more than three unexcused absences.

National Honor Society is based around the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Members are required to volunteer in events from football games, school events, to food pantries.
Requirements: At least a 3.75 weighted GPA. Acceptance is determined after filling out an application.

This photography club will teach you the mechanics of how to use a DSLR camera for candids and sporting events. We'll learn how to edit them in Lightroom and Photoshop and use them to create dynamic social media posts. All experience levels welcome with the chance of having your photos featured in the yearbook, newspaper, or magazine!

The Plant Club maintains the greenhouse and distributes plants to teachers and other subscribers for Plant of the Month. The goals of this club are to build relationships, grow confidence in gardening, and learn horticulture.

Prostart is a culinary and hospitality team competition. You have to be in Culinary 3 or 4 and try out. Only 13 people make the team. Five students are put into culinary, one for edible centerpiece, four for hospitality and management, and three for waiter’s relay.

Engineering club that competes in building competitions in early February that include: water bottle rockets, mousetrap cars, gliders, bridges, egg drop, energy transfers, and they also do coding, essay writing, posters, and banners.

Speech and Debate Club is based on the National Speech and Debate Association's rules and guidelines to participate in NFCFL and FDCI competitions to be inducted into the NSDA Honor Society. Students can choose to do speech and/or debate categories.

TSA competes in a wide variety of STEM-related competitions each year at the end of February and an optional conference in June. These competitions include software development, mechanical engineering, fashion design, and many others.
