Here Comes Homecoming!

Are you ready to bring out your inner showman at this year’s circus themed homecoming celebration?  Start thinking about what unique outfit to wear, because homecoming week is just around the corner! There’s a lot going on, and the students are in for a treat this year.

Thanks to the hard work of Ms. Hooper, Mr. Plyler, and the leadership team, the homecoming theme this year as been secured as Under the Big Top. This is due to the success of the fairly recent film “The Greatest Showman” and it’s popularity among the students. The week before the dance, there will be all sorts of activities and contests that students can participate in. The full schedule for homecoming this year is below.

22nd: Meme Monday

Make sure to replicate your favorite school appropriate Vine or Meme!

  • Door decorating during 5th period
  • Chalk drawing at 2:30 p.m. in the courtyard, judging at 4:00 p.m. chalk & drinks provided
  •  Simon Sez hypnotist show – 7pm in the auditorium, $5 in advance, $8 at the door

The hypnotist show is something Lyman has never done before which has many students excited. “I think that hypnotist show is going to be pretty cool, I also can’t wait to take my girlfriend this year to the dance” junior Connor Rades said.

23rd: Times Two Tuesday

Pair up with a friend and dress up as a famous duo!

  • Lyman’s got talent- 7pm in the auditorium, $5 in advance, $8 at the door

24th: Out of the World Wednesday

Choose your side! Dress up as an Alien or Astronaut and have an out-of-this-world day!

  • Powder Puff game- $5 at the door, $3 with a canned good

25th: Tame or be Tame Thursday

Are you an Lion or Tamer? Dress up as an animal or person you would like to see in the circus!

  • 6 pm: Begins at Florida Ave and Milwee St. in Downtown Longwood. At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a pep rally in Reiter Park, free to the public.

26th: Mega Blue and Gold Friday

Deck yourself out in Blue and Gold to support Lyman against Oviedo!

  • Pep Rally, 1:20 in the stadium
  • Homecoming game, 7pm in the stadium, $7 at the gate, Lyman vs. Oviedo. Don’t forget! The homecoming king and queen coronation will take place at halftime. #Tamethelions

27th: Saturday

  • The Dance: 7-11pm, (enter from the senior patio) Ticket prices change as Homecoming gets closer! Tickets are $20 from Oct. 15th-19th, $30 from Oct. 22nd-26th, and $40 at the door. Concessions and coat check will also available for purchase at the door.

Many students are excited for the activities leading up to this year’s homecoming, “I like the activities they planned this year, all those small activities really bring us together as a school, the circus theme is also dope, I’m so proud we are Lyman,” said junior Jacob Mann.

One great thing about homecoming this year is that there is something for everybody, whether you want watch a football game or participate in contests, to following the homecoming parade or even enjoying some entertainment in the auditorium. “Although I am new to high school and this will be just my first homecoming, this schedule has just gotten me very excited” said freshman Mari Ruiz.
