Regardless of your political beliefs we can all agree that President Donald Trump is a controversial figure. Ever since he won the election, many citizens and a large number of celebrities vocally expressed their outrage. Opposing this group is rapper Kanye West who has recently been a surprising outspoken supporter of President Trump. At the beginning of October, the meeting between Kanye West, Jim Brown, and Donald Trump in the Oval Office had the media enthralled. It’s a mutual admiration that appears to date back a few years. Over the past several months, Kanye has turned up his support for the controversial Celebrity-in-Chief, becoming a one-man promo team while displaying a total lack of knowledge on 45’s policies.

Despite being called out by many of his peers and even being threatened with violence for his ill-based allegiance to the reality show star turned president, Kanye remains unwavered and has even doubled down. Kanye’s own father has warned him against aligning himself with Trump when they were together during the recording of Ye.

“He expressed that he felt that some of the policies were hurtful and that I’m a person that does not intend to hurt people, never hurts people with intention,” Kanye revealed to The New York Times in June.

During the meeting the meandering soliloquy roller-coastered from the personal to the political. West called the president’s work on criminal-justice reform (an issue championed by his wife, Kim Kardashian West, during her own visits with Trump) “bravery.” He said he was advised by his friends not to wear the MAGA hat.

“They tried to scare me to not wear this hat.”

He commented on his childhood and implied that Trump is giving him father-figure vibes.

“My dad and my mom separated, so there was not a lot of male energy in my home and also I’m married to a family where, you know, there’s not a lot of male energy. It’s beautiful, though.”

West said that the MAGA hat made him feel like a superhero and that Trump, whom the rapper looked up to, had given him “a Superman cape” endowing West with the courage to negotiate business deals and help his community by bringing back manufacturing jobs.

Kanye West has received heavy backlash in the past by saying that slavery was a “choice” he also told Trump that he wants to abolish the 13th amendment because it means nothing.

“I did say abolish with the MAGA hat on, why would you keep something around that’s a trapdoor, if you build a floor and the constitution is the base of our industry, would you build a trapdoor that if you mess up or something accidentally happens, you fall and you end up next to the Unabomber. You have to remove all that trapdoor from the relationship.”

Kanye added that “The four gentlemen that wrote the 13th amendment didn’t even look like the people they were amending also at that point it was illegal for blacks to read or African-Americans to read and so that means if you actually read the amendment you’d get locked up! We don’t need sentences, we need pardons…”

Kanye has been working on making his hometown a better environment for the people and he wants President Trump to make Chicago a priority.

“I met with the head of the police department and Mike Sachs in the SoHo House to speak on how we feel about the stop and frisk that’s the number one thing that doesn’t help the relationships between police and the people in the city”.

Kanye also wants to open up industries and receive tax breaks in order to create factories in the suburbs.

Kanye also believes it’s important to add more jobs in the U.S. and he wants to stop manufacturing from other nations like China and Vietnam to make us more unified. West also wants to add a transition with mental health and the education curriculum using the programs that Jim Brown, Larry Hoover, the Montessori curriculum, the Waldorf establishment have worked on. He would also like to add meditation into school because there is a lot of things that makes people do crazy things.

“I was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder, I was connected with a neuro-psychologist that works with the athletes in the NBA and NFL and he looked at my brain, its equal on 3 parts…… he said that I actually wasn’t bipolar I had sleep deprivation which could cause dementia 10 to 20 years from now, I wouldn’t even remember my son’s name, so all this power that I get I’m taking my son to the Sox game and all that I wouldn’t be able to remember his name from a misdiagnosis.”

Larry Hoover was brought into conversation and how he was wrongfully convicted and that Kanye would like to set him free “Larry Hoover is a living statue, he is a beacon for us, he was trying to turn his life around and as soon as he tries he was charged with six life sentences.”

“It’s very important to me to get Hoover out because in an alternate universe I am him and I have to go and get him free because he was doing positive in Chicago” West adds and he also mentioned Jim Brown’s program from the ‘Mayor I Can’ and how he wants to put curriculums for people who came from the streets and not people who set them up to go into a work system or prison system that applies to what people are really going through.

Kanye is also a vocal supporter of the 2nd amendment.

“The problem with that isn’t the illegal guns it is the legal guns because we do have the right to bear arms but it has created a big epidemic for the country.”

Trump appreciates anyone who strokes his ego and supports his MAGA agenda and would like Kanye to speak at his rallies.

“He could speak for me anytime he wants, he’s a smart cookie, and he gets it.”

During the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye has also expressed his own political aspirations. The rapper concluded his remarks by announcing a presidential bid for the election in 2020.

“I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.

“It was unclear how serious West was, President Trump takes Kanye’s political goals seriously saying, “he could very well be a future candidate.”

Kanye’s philosophy is to stop worrying about the future and that all we have is today, that it’s an eternal return in a hero’s journey.

“Trump is on hero journey that he may have not expected to have my support on making America great again and that in the super bowl I want to see Colin Kappernick wear a MAGA hat to show that we can learn how to be malleable in the infinite universe we live in,” Kanye says.

At the end of the meeting Trump shares his final thoughts on Kanye’s speech “what Kanye has been doing is incredible that the whole world is talking about this and I had important meetings with senators but this meeting with Kanye was the one people actually care about.”

Trump is correct that people are talking about their meeting. From political pundits to talk show hosts, everyone is trying to understand the unique relationship between Kanye and Trump. SNL shared their take on the Oval Office meeting in typical skit fashion.
